How many times have you believed that your goals are impossible to reach?
How many times have you been discouraged by the number of obstacles you found in your way?
How many times have you given up on a big dream just because you believed that you won't be able to realize it?
Lets be honest, this happens to most people then in the end they come and complain about being unhappy. In my article Should i give up on my dream i said that our dreams are the air we breath for they are the only thing that can help us satisfy our extreemly important unmet psychological needs.
But how can a person overcome the obstacles in his life and realize his dreams?
David Hartman, has the answer to that question.
At an early age young David lost his sight and became blind, an event that could put the most ambitious person down and force him to give up on his dreams.
David always wanted to become a doctor and he didn't give up on that dream even when he became blind. One day he was sitting with his father on a table and he asked him "Dad, do you think i can become a doctor?"
His father, who was a very wise man, answered him saying: "You will never know unless you try". David got encouraged by the words of his father and he started contacting medical schools but they all rejected him.
"We can't accept a blind student for he can't became a doctor" that was the reply of most medical schools but David wasn't discouraged by the replies he got. He kept sending his papers until one university accepted him!
However there was a big problem. In a medical school you need to see lots of diagrams, pictures, charts and read large books that were never written using Braille method because no one ever expected that a blind student would apply for a medical school.
Most people would have given up at this point and even felt proud of themsleves. After all they did their best, joined the medical school but they were not lucky because they can never read the books, right? (see Luck & success)
David went to an institute that records information for blind students on tapes. He made them record 25 books for him and he used the tapes to study!
Some of Dave's good friends helped him to visualize the diagrams and to understand them even though he never saw them.
At the age of 27 David graduated from medical school and he became the first blind doctor ever!
So back to your really big obstacles.
You don't have money?
You don't have time?
People always put you down?
Life is unfair?
Was life fair to David? Or did he do his best until he forced it to become fair to him?
David was blind.
what kind of obstacle in the world is bigger than that one?
impossible is nothing but you just need to believe in this fact in order to do miracles just like David did.
I have managed to become a self made millionaire at the age of 28. This didn't happen by chance because i already wrote that goal down five years before i accomplished it.
