One of the readers sent me a question asking me how can someone show up on TV at a young age.
I live in Egypt and before i was 27 i was already appearing on all the popular middle eastern TV Channels (MBC, LBC, OTV, NILE TV and many other popular channels)
In this article i will tell you how to grab the media attention and to show up on TV at a young age.
What do you usually do when you see a man walking in the street?
Yes you are right, you do nothing!! because its extremely ordinary to see a man walking.
Now what would you do if you saw a man walking on the edge of a balcony in the 10th floor. Certainly you are going to stop and take a look!
The same exactly applies to the people working in the media. People are not interested in seeing the regular pattern they see everyday but they want to see something unusual.
A young guy has a blog that gets 1,000,000 hits/month. That's one thing you don't see everyday and this was one reason i appeared on many TV channels. (See my book How i did it)
So the point is not knowing how to capture the media attention alone but in addition you need to do something that is worth attracting the attention.
Many people who have extraordinary talents fail to grab media attention because they don't make enough noise.
Let me explain what's meant by noise. If you decided to wrestle with a lion on a native island then most likely no one will know about what you did but if you did that on a public park then certainly you will grab the world's attention in no time.
Once you achieve a certain level of success, use videos, social networks, status updates, pictures and everything else that you can use to make noise.
Few years back i wrote that status update on facebook "My name is Farouk, and i am a dot com millionaire, Just sold 1 million worth of my ebooks!" (see Secrets of self made millionaires. This news spread like fire and brought me more media attention.
The people who work for the media are already out there searching for those who make this kind of noise and once they come across them they give them more attention if their accomplishments were really worthy.
I have managed to become a self made millionaire at the age of 28. This didn't happen by chance because i already wrote that goal down five years before i accomplished it. Becoming rich is not about luck, starting big or being intelligent but its all about having certain beliefs about money and life.
