Is it possible to love two people at the same time?
Can someone be in a relationship with a person and in love with another?
For the first instance this question might seem odd because ,after all, it contradicts with our beliefs about love. But have ever asked yourself that following question:

Before you can understand how can someone love more than one person you need to understand how love works. In my book How to make someone fall in love with you i said that people fall in love with others who posses certain traits and resources that helps them meet their important unmet needs.
Now what if you found a person who fulfilled some of your unconscious unmet needs but not all of them. Most probably you will like that person or even fall in love with him. Now what will happen if another person appeared who fulfilled the other half of your unmet needs?
In such a case you might become attracted to that other person as well! In such a case the traits and resources of both people complement other in such a way that makes you like them both.
Love has different stages. The first stage of love involves anxiety, infatuation and passion. Later on a different stage replaces the first where different chemicals come into play like the ones responsible for intimacy, deep connection and mutual respect.

This is one of the most popular reasons that make people love two persons at the same time. Some people get married to the best catch they find and not to the person who can really satisfy their important needs.
If you really wanted to drink grape juice but found nothing other than water then you might drink water in order to quench your thirst but Later on if you came across the grape juice you wanted earlier you will quickly realize that you didn't want water at all.
Now the problem with relationships is that you might find that grape juice after you have already been committed to water!
Many people go for choices that don't really suit them because they are anxious about ending up single, they don't believe they can do better or because they believe that they are getting old. (see How love addiction leads to breakups
The solution to that problem is simple. Don't give up on what you really want just because you believe that you can't reach it. If you did so then later on you will find yourself with someone and deeply in love with someone else.
