Depression warning signs

Depression usually gives us enough warnings before it arrives. If your mind can talk, it would have told you while you are depressed, didn’t I warn you??

Everyone knows that depression results from chemical imbalance in the brain but almost no one talks about the causes of this imbalance. Depression is a symptom of the chemical imbalance and this chemical imbalance itself is a symptom of something else that is much deeper. (see my article What causes depression )

If you read lots of articles about depression then most likely you have seen this statement somewhere "prolonged stress leads to depression", but what does it actually mean?

It means that if you didn’t manage to deal correctly with the stressful factors in your life then stress will stay with you for prolonged periods and will then result in depression. When you fail to deal with an external factor that causes you stress for a long period of time then your mind will lose hope and you will end up depressed.

Warning sings your mind sends you about depression

Suppose that you had an ideal weight then suddenly you faced a severe breakup which resulted in changing your eating habits. With every new meal you will eat you will get a warning from your subconscious mind telling you:

“You know that eating can increase your weight and you know that your weight has already increased 10 pounds since the breakup, if you kept doing so your weight will increase even more and it will be hard to put it off”

If you ignored this message or if you replied saying "I will only eat this time then stop" or if you gave false promises to your subconscious mind then you are going to feel stressed because of this inner conflict.

With each meal you eat you will become more and more stressed as the conflict arises between your desires and your subconscious mind’s warnings.

After a while your subconscious mind will lose hope and will stop warning you through stress but it will then use something more powerful which is depression. (see Its calling you)

Can depression be prevented?

Yes it can, by responding to the signals early before they change from stress to depression.

Yes depression is caused by chemical imbalance in the brain but the chemical imbalance itself stems from your inability to deal with a certain life problem.
